White Flowers!

Katie and Mr Werbowski will continue... But for today:

White flowers are a symbol of purity and chastity. (Funny, I had to use spell check for both of those!)

These Hydrangeas were in full bloom in Pinafore Park in St Thomas when I drove through on June 30th.

When you see these, you can imagine why folks think white means purity!

The shading of greens and the white that is actually just the palest of green!

These photographs were shot with my Nikon P-90 digital camera and downloaded directly from the camera and then to this blog. My aim is to take my reader along with me on the journey, so although I am aware of my framing of the shot, content and quality, I am most interested in sharing the experience.

Natures Art

My pond is a wonder!
So secretive... So seductive and mysterious.
This is our bubble rock pond that we built ourselves.

It was frozen this one morning in January.
With minus 16 C even our trough heater couldn't keep up.
I ran for my camera!

The green of the moss....
The rocks we so carefully laid...

Crystalline

I can't even think of words so I'll just be quiet and let you enjoy!

Something meant as a summer treat turning onto a winter fantasy!

Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder!

A Birdhouse Tree!

Human beings always amaze me with their ability to take something that could be an eyesore and turn it onto art or a decoration.

Once a graceful old tree,
this stump has become a home for the birds!
I love it!

Obviously home made houses with details and serious cuteness!

Perhaps not made by a cabinet maker, but still so creative!

I'll definitely have to drive back and take more shots in the summer when the pots are full!
Home owner: Good for you!

All of these photos were again shot and loaded directly from my Nikon P90 and then posted without alteration of any kind.

Wishin' and Hopin'

Valentines comes along each year and I can't help but  recall many of my past ones where I was either with one of my bad choices or by myself and I am so grateful that Dick and I found each other!

I bet you all have stories like these too, but rather than bore you with my memories, I will show you a beautiful wishing well we discovered on one of our crop dusting tours.

...And I will paint a picture....

Just there, by itself, stands a wishing well.

Forlorn you might think,

but no...

Someone's hands carefully laid the stones in mortar. Only a foot at a time and then it had to dry to withstand the weight of the next layer.
Who picked those stones?
Did they come from a field or a barn foundation of perhaps someone's fireplace?

Did a young man build this for his bride? Her watching from the kitchen window of the farmhouse and maybe bringing him a cool glass of water when the sun's rays became too hot?

I can see him, in my mind's eye, hewing the blocks of wood with his axe to make shingles and laying them ever so carefully so that the sun would not heat the well's water.

Perhaps she was the one who whitewashed his handmade creation to preserve it for a time?

Whose hands have touched the crank, bringing up the cool sweetness from the earth?

As I drive away and leave this wonder,
I am glad I am loved.

A story comes from a modest country yard...

Did you look around you today and see something through my eyes?

All Pictures were taken and downloaded directly from my Digital Camera, a Nikon P90 without alteration of any kind.

Gazebo

Hidden Gazebo... Hooked up?

While scouring the countryside for barns, I turned from taking one snapshot and Yo!

What's that I see in the trees?

Wait! I see a Gazebo!
All day I had been hunting for one and here, I had almost missed this beauty!

A hidden gem! Ever resilient, some folks can make a silk purse from a sows ear!

Can you imagine a sultry summer's evening...
Sipping a cool one ...
Hooked up to the world by satellite?

Do you suppose they have a portable TV?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

There is a cottage in Port Bruce, Ontario, right on Lake Erie and they have a most unusual garden ornament. Dick and I were out for our Sunday drive and went past so that you could enjoy it with us.

Now, if you drove by quickly, you might just think the resident's were poor and had just parked this old girl there when she quit. (There's a new rig in the laneway...) But no! This truck and trailer have been adorning this lawn for something like ten or fifteen years!

Upon closer examination, you can see that they have built it in to their garden. Benches and seating... The fence doesn't have any gate either, so it's truly integrated into the design. The grass is carefully trimmed around her in summer.

The pumpkin head has also been hanging in it as far back as I can recall the truck parked there.
(See? The wiper is gone and how flaked the paint is?)

Perma Flowers adorn some of their gardens. So much more cost effective, don't you agree?

Some gnomes, some colored lights strung on the fence and... OH!

I didn't notice the real children hunkered down behind the tree until I transferred these photos from my Nikon!

(At least I think they were real?)

I wish more folks were like these residents of Port Bruce. If you like something, why not have it and love it? Give it a place of honor in your home or on the lawn. When it's all said and done... Who's going to care anyway?

Snow Pictures!

A lonely Gazebo awaits the summer's sun.

Can't see it? Oh! Wait! Here you go!

I hope they never paint it! Somehow the peeling baby blue just adds to the charm!
