Camping is the Holiday Inn!

I was lucky, because I traveled a bit as a child. Not big, grand tours or anything, but always a road trip in the car with my mom and dad and sister.

We would 'motel it' and I recall my mom would always ask for the keys to go see a room before she would rent it for the night.

It was so cool to see new places and things ...

...And I've never gotten over that.

How many of you stayed in a room exactly like this one?

I think this is one thing that blows me away about the Henry Ford Museum! They have rebuilt this motel room inside the museum and it is exactly like what I remember!
I bet there's still more than one out there in the mid-west somewhere that still looks like this?

These photographs were shot with my Nikon P-90 digital camera and downloaded directly from the camera and then to this blog. My aim is to take my reader along with me on the journey, so although I am aware of my framing of the shot, content and quality, I am most interested in sharing the experience.

I absolutely love staying in hotels! If I could afford it, I'd live in one, I think. Maid service, available restaurant and room service, large screen tv --my needs are met! lol

Yes, I have, and they are interchangeable from place to place. They've figured out what we need and provide it, for a price. I love to travel when I can stay in these!

It's an odd thing to see in a museum I guess but they are part of our history.

Wow, does that bring back memories. That Holiday Inn sign is what I remember from years ago.

Very cool.

Brings back memories. There is something so exciting about staying at a motel or hotel. We stay in condo's now, but do like the motel experience too.

No camping or outdoors or tents for me...my idea of a vacation is maid service, continental breakfast and a clean soft bed.

I cannot get over all the STUFF in the Henry Ford Museum!!!!! I will absolutely HAVE to visit there!

Yes, I well remember those Holiday Inn rooms. We lived in two adjoining rooms like that one for almost a month when we moved to a new state and couldn't immediately find a house. What fun we had!

I remember when McDonalds came to town, but I didn't remember that they were only 15 cents. In Alabama, we had Jack's Hamburgers; I still remmeber their little jingle: ♫ Jack's Hamburgers for fifteeen cents are so good, good, good, you'll go back back back to Jack Jack Jack for more, more more. ♫

Believe me, that was a catchy little ditty for me to remember it over forty years later!

Okay, that black coach is creeping me out. Looks like a little bitty hearse to me.

As a fellow barn lover, you must go take a look at this photo:

Oh yes, I've stayed in a ton of hotels like this-- So many that when I'd get my wake-up call I'd have to ask what city I was in.

Enjoy your travels,
jj
