Several folks enjoying a man made pond in a park!
Dads and young 'uns alike dressed for the frigid temperatures and enjoying a game.
Sometimes the dad's took over: Catch me if you can!
And then, just when you thought he was being mean, he'd pass to one of the boys for the final shot!
This young man was getting tired!... But...
Gamely stood again to meet the challengers.
Some fresh recruits donning skates to join the fray...
One end was still open for beginners and figure skating.
See? This is how you skate backwards?
But... it's lonely at the end...
Bah! They're not going to shoot it down here!
These were taken in Belmont, Ontario... just a small village that got sucked into a larger Municipality a few years ago when they amalgamated everybody in order to (what they called) save tax dollars.
As Dick stood behind my shoulder while I snapped these shots, he regaled me with stories of how when we were kids, we of course wouldn't have dreamt of wearing a noggin saving helmet! Sometimes yes, he would get a pair of hockey gloves in a Christmas gift, but padding was usually a borrowed Sears catalogue and phone book stuffed down your socks!

Great photos! Thanks for sharing!
These pictures are so lovely. Such a coincidence, I just posted today about the exact same thing your husband was talking about. It is about Remember when...looks like we were on the same wave-length today. Stop by and visit.
Keep the pictures coming, I love them.
It is good to see the sunshine and to see people enjoying a winter day. I never could ice skate although I tried in my younger days and wished I would have had some padding when I fell flat for sure.
Being the Southern girl that I am, I really enjoyed these photos...I have never seen hockey played and ice skating only at a shopping mall!!!
Beautiful photos...
It looks like you had as much fun as the hockey players : ) Great shots!
Those pictures are stunning. I want to run for the mountains! Or Canada :).
I loved the pictures and the narration. I bet that was a lot of fun to watch. Snow. Here in the deep south we look at those pictures and just sigh.........
Now, that's how hockey is meant to be played! Wonderful shots.
Oh yes the good ol' days of concussions and broken teeth. We miss them so. LOL.
My sister lives far enough north in B.C. that they clear snow from their frozen lake and have an ice rink every winter. The whole community loves it.
very cool....we never have enough cold to freeze ponds like that. I really enjoy the pics you take
