Barns!

In the East end of Elgin county, we found this monstrous barn right along side the highway. It was bitter cold, but my new camera still performed beautifully.

This barn is actually a very pale yellow or cream color, but the sun was so brilliant, it washes it out in the photos.

This is more tobacco country, although they still grow cash crops like wheat, corn and beans.

It looks like as they needed more storage, they just built on.

This could have been the orginal farmhouse that likely just got swallowed by the barn expansion. Then was probably used as a chicken house, but I'm just speculating!

It's been many years since our municipalities would allow a house to be attached to a barn.

Not in the best state of repair, but these old structures require a huge amount of upkeep.

The lightning rod / Vents are such sculptures in the sky!

I wonder what they used this addition attached to the side?

Could be either implements or just storage.
Perhaps for pigs or sheep in a low slung barn like that.

The upper doors had these silhouettes painted on them.
Such care to decorate a barn.
Wonderful!

All of these photos were again shot and loaded directly from my Nikon P90 and then posted without alteration of any kind.

Nice pics. Good detail shots. Makes me feel as if I were there...in fact, I wish I were...

Those are wonderful photos. What a great old barn. I notice you still have some snow. Ours is all gone, thank goodness! It's very early, though, so we could possibly have some again. I hope not. I want it to be spring!
