One Of My Favorite Chef's

The Winter Olympics are something that we all look forward to and this next January, they are hosted in Vancouver, British Columbia.

I am proud of my country and also proud that many of my fellow Canadians are featured for this event.

One of those people is also one of my favourite chefs to watch on Food TV and he has inspired me with many dishes. His down to earth, old style of cooking is also mine. His concept of pick an ingredient and cook what your taste buds tell you compliment each other, has also made many a happy meal in this house and if you 've ever caught his show, my nieces' 'pantry envy' is well founded!

Besides.... anybody who's made a meat smoker out of a discarded refrigerator is aces in my book!

He is host of the “Chef at Home,” “Chef at Large,” and “Chef Abroad” TV shows on the Food Network Canada and has been chosen to be part of the elite group of chefs preparing food for the athletes and will act as corporate chef for Sodexo Canada, the catering service that is responsible for working the Winter Games.

Michael Smith's roots are in the province Prince Edward Island in Eastern Canada.
He is the author of  three cookbooks and hosted a total of four cooking television series and several specials he’s participated in. He has made numerous personal appearance at Public Trade Shows and is so down to earth and approachable. He’s also been the recipient of the James Beard Award for Cooking Show Excellence.
Chef Michael Smith will also appear on another popular Food Network show, “Iron Chef America.”

He also has received the honorable title – that of Food Ambassador for Tourism Prince Edward Island. He will represent PEI’s local food movement.

I am sure you have seen him on your Food Channel, but if not, here is his website link:

I just took a look at Michael Smith’s website and he does have some nice sounding recipes in there. We went to PEI last September and both my husband and I loved it. We did not stay long enough so we’ll have to go back some time.

I live about a mile from the Canadian border in Michigan but way too far to see the Olympics personally - wish I could though. I try not to watch the Food Network too much - causes weight gain☺
